Pohanka Automotive Group has been a proud partner to the communities we serve since our first location opened in downtown Washington, D.C. in 1919. We employ over 1,300 people who live and work in these communities, and for 100 years we have demonstrated our dedication to our neighbors through continued support of charities, schools, youth programs and community-based organizations in Chantilly, greater Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland and Tomball, Texas.

THE JOHN J. POHANKA FAMILY FOUNDATION
The John J. Pohanka Family Foundation was established by the Pohanka Family and has made contributions to countless charities, schools and arts organizations, including: The Washington National Opera, Johns Hopkins University, The Wagner Society of Washington, DC, The Mercatus Center, Levine School of Music, Lehigh University, Gettysburg College, George Washington’s Mount Vernon, Fairfax County Park Foundation, Wolf Trap Foundation, Children’s Advocacy Center, The Erin H. Gilmar Early Learning Center, Saint James School, The Hill School, Spirit of Faith Christian Center.
HURRICANE HARVEY RELIEF
When Hurricane Harvey devastated Texas and the Southeastern United States in August 2017, the Pohanka team immediately rallied to support our newest neighbors in Tomball, Texas. We launched a fundraising campaign and the response from Chantilly was nothing short of amazing! In less than one week we raised over $20,000 to help with relief efforts in our newest community.

POHANKA NISSAN GIVEAWAY
After winning a Nissan Rogue in a contest held by Pohanka Nissan, the winner, April, turned down the prize and suggested a small donation be made to Conway Elementary School in Stafford towards their Autism/Development Delay Program. Upon hearing this, Tim Pohanka, owner of Pohanka Nissan, gladly accepted this proposal to support Conway Elementary with their Development Delay Program.
CHANTILLY HIGH SCHOOL
For over 15 years Pohanka provided the title sponsorship for the Pohanka Chantilly Classic Holiday Basketball Tournament and contributed to the new track and field facilities.
WESTFIELDS HIGH SCHOOL
Pohanka Automotive Group has provided sponsorships of the baseball and track teams, as well as the new track and field facilities.
VAN DYCK PARK
Pohanka Lexus contributed $10,000 towards the construction of new playgrounds in one of the most popular parks in Fairfax.
2018 TEACHER OF THE YEAR
Pohanka Honda donated a three year Honda Accord lease to the Prince Georges County Teacher of the Year Daleisha Myers in recognition of her outstanding support for education.At the teacher of the year Gala in Greenbelt MD on May 15th 2018, Prince Georges School System Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kevin Maxwell announced the winner of the 2018 teacher of the year contest.
"Mrs. Myers has been a fifth grade teacher at the Tulip Grove Elementary School in Bowie MD for over 13 years," said Dr. Maxwell. "She epitomizes the level of excellence we look for in our Teacher of the Year...her dedication and outstanding instruction prepares students for future academic challenges".

POHANKA PAYS IT FORWARD
In the midst the 2009 recession, Sandy Fitzgerald-Angello, VP/Dealer Operator of Pohanka of Salisbury founded the Pohanka Pays It Forward program. The recession had a significant impact on many businesses and contributions to non-profits were the one of the f irst things to be reduced or eliminated by many organizations. Instead of cutting charitable giving, Sandy created Pohanka Pays It Forward. In the decade since its creation, Pohanka Pays It Forward has donated over $2 million to more than 750 charitable organizations on Delmarva, and continues paying it forward every day to charities all across the Eastern Shore.
